the end of the El Mocambo?

i had i dream a few nights ago that during the excitement of the terrorist attacks it was overlooked by the media that scientists had made contact with intelligent life in outer space. it turned out that all over the galaxy there were races of aliens and they all knew eachother and had known about us for a long time but we were the losers of the universe pretty much and no one cared to get in touch. then some of them came to earth but for the sole purpose of abducting tom hanks and making him dress up in football gear and run into a wall over and over again.

anyways, last night mike and i went to see grand total, oneida, and the constantines at the el mocambo. it was a good show. really crowded. i hadn't been there in a while so i didn't know till last night that they were threatening to close down the el mocambo and turn it into a contemporary dance studio or something like that. what a travesty. they had a petition going to stop that from happening but i don't know, geez, it would be horrible if they closed it down. the el mo is a toronto institution of rock and roll, the rolling stones played there, and elvis costello, and black flag to name a few. (actually i am just repeating what they told me last night, i knew about the stones playing there but not elvis costello or black flag). and then some guy in the audience shouted, "save the el fucking mocambo" and everybody cheered
